Copic Markers and Acrylics in Fashion Illustrations

I used to paint my illustrations with comic markers (especially when I first knew about them) before using acrylics and watercolors. Whenever I explore a new painting technique or new paint/marker, I notice how the final result for my illustrations change as a result.

Since I used to daily draw and paint, I don’t always notice the changes in my illustrating style. However, when I finish painting I always get amazed by how I improved. Also, I noticed how different the feeling of each illustration is when using copies vs using acrylics and watercolors. If you paint a lot, you noticed which is painted with copics and which was painted with acrylics. I’ll post my recent illustrations which you can look at and compare the results:

I’m doing a special art commission offer before the end of Ramadan where I’ll draw your outfit and as an optional choice I can even illustrate a light background like my latest fashion illustrations. If you wish to know more about the price, send me an email and we can discuss the details through it: anwaar(dot)a87(at)gmail(dot)com.

Below are some of my latest fashion illustrations where I illustrated Ramadan Kaftans and other fashion drawings from Met Gala and Cannes Film Festival 2017:

I constantly show the painting process for all of my designs on Snapchat: Artistakw. This is both my brand’s and my personal Snapchat account so you can follow me to watch more painting processes and tutorials in the future. Also, there are a couple of other images especially for the brown Kaftan illustration which you can see on Instagram.

If you have any further question(s), request, or wish to learn how-to illustrate a fashion illustration send me an email at any time. I already posted my email address above the images.

What Kept Me Busy? Part 2

I thought of diving this topic into two posts so that I don’t bombard you with a lot of text. And I know for sure that this series will continue for the next months too.

In last October I joined an online Fashion Course with a duration of 12 weeks. I and the other students were tasked with a weekly challenge with a different topic each week. It was one interesting homework that I truly enjoyed doing. You know when you let your creativity and ideas just flow and take control … yeah, it was such a thing.

My schedule wasn’t too crowded in October so I had more time to spend on the challenges. However, in November it was completely different. Sometimes I just don’t want to remember how busy I was last month. I had to prepare for the DAI festival, and to my luck I had to pay the dentist a couple of visits where he suggested I get rid of my wisdom teeth. And this alone was a big story. Not to mention the emergencies that occur without a prior notice, as well as social gatherings. I also got invited to attend my friend’s book signing session and I had to stay active in social media. I have two different accounts to handle and multiple websites to manage. So imagine how my life was. I certainly don’t want to remember that time of the year.

Let me stop ranting for a bit so I can get back to the main topic of this post.

Breath in, breath out … Here it goes!

I won’t go through the whole theme and process thing but I’ll show you some of my own designs and ideas.

Fashion Illustrations

Since the beginning of this year I tried illustrating something different than I used to. I tried illustrating fashion illustrations. I absolutely love fashion and thought it’d be a good idea for me to try out a new direction. After trial and error and illustrating for months I can finally see improvement in my sketching and illustrating style. At first, I depended on my pencil for my primary sketches and drawings then inked them with a thin tipped black marker. However, yesterday I was able to pull off a whole illustration using a black marker directly. And below is the result:

This is the latest fashion illustration I did featuring this beautiful dress by Ralph and Russo Couture F/W 2014.

I’m delighted with the improvement in my drawing and coloring styles and would love to do more illustrations in the upcoming days. You can check out my old illustrations in my instagram account posted below. Also, if you have any question/request feel free to email me at any time: anwaar.sa87(at)gmail.com
